Last week, our Year 9 and 10 students learnt about Burns Night and Scottish culture. Burns night is a tradition, celebrated every year on the 25th January in honour of Robert Burns, who is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland.
A key part of the traditional supper is the famous poem, 'Address to a Haggis', which begins with the line 'Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face'. Dressed in a kilt for the occasion, our guest speaker, Chris Sangster, talked to the students about Scottish traditions and performed the poem in the Scots language, with a translation. Our students learnt about tartan, bagpipes and the haggis as well as trying out some Scots words.
As the new academic year approaches, students around the world are gearing up for the challenges ahead. At OICB we understand the importance of this transition period.
